ABSTRACT
Phenolic molecules are a kind of toxic organic pollutants commonly discharged from industrial effluents. Catalytic ozonation holds great potential in removing phenolic and further improving the removal efficiency is still research focus this field. In study, defect engineering was used to construct Bi2O3 with rich oxygen vacancies (denoted as Ov-Bi2O3). Ov-Bi2O3 found exhibit efficient activity toward derivatives. Combined DFT calculations experimental results suggest that play two important roles: (1) exposed Bi sites induced by endow special bridging O3 adsorption, which beneficial improve kinetics decomposition; (2) O2 produced during decomposition process can be reutilized generate 1O2, prolongs utilization O3. addition, loaded onto carbon fiber, also demonstrates activity. This work provides an alternative way design catalysts via ozone oxidation.
