ABSTRACT
Exact quantitative understanding of plasmon propagation along nanowires is mandatory for designing and creating functional devices. Here we investigate transmission through top-down fabricated monocrystalline gold on a glass substrate. We show that the finite-length can be described by Fabry-P\'{e}rot oscillations beat with free-space propagating light launched at incoupling end. Using an extended model, experimental simulated length dependent signals agree quantitatively fully analytical model.
