ABSTRACT
Viruses pose serious infectious disease threats to humans and animals. To significantly decrease the mortality morbidity caused by virus infections, there is an urgent need of sensitive rapid point-of-care platforms for detection, especially in low-resource settings. Herein, we developed a smartphone-based platform highly selective detection avian influenza based on nanomaterial-enabled colorimetric detection. The 3D nanostructures, which serve as scaffold antibody conjugation capture virus, are made PDMS herringbone structures with ZnO nanorod template. After capture, on-chip gold nanoparticle-based reaction allows naked eyes limit 2.7 × 104 EID50/mL, one order magnitude better than that conventional fluorescence-based ELISA. Furthermore, smartphone imaging system data processing capability further improves limit, reaching down 8 103 EID50/mL. entire process can be completed 1.5 h. We envision this microfluidic integrated would provide fast, cheap, sensitive, user-friendly
