ABSTRACT
Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) have emerged as promising substitutes for SO2 capture. In this work, an effective preorganization strategy was implemented to design DESs, aiming at improving the desorption property while ensuring absorption capacity in DESs. Several novel DESs with preorganized multi-imides hydrogen bond donors were synthesized and evaluated The results showed that studied exhibited high capacities. particular, ethylenurea (EU)/1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride (BmimCl) (1:2) could achieve up 1.18 0.25 gSO2/gDESs 293.15 K under 1 0.02 atm, respectively. Moreover, absorbent be regenerated easily mild conditions remained almost unchanged after several consecutive absorption–desorption cycles. On basis of spectroscopic investigations quantum chemical calculations, reversible mechanism illustrated, which synergism acceptors facilitated capture, charge-transfer interactions between effectively tuned by strategy, thus endowing excellent performance.
