ABSTRACT
Place-exchange and amide-forming coupling reactions represent two facile efficient routes to poly-functionalization of water-soluble nanoparticles. In this paper, place-exchange with tiopronin-MPCs are described their products characterized by 1H 31P NMR, capillary electrophoresis, electrochemistry, fluorescence spectroscopy. ligands yield about half the ligand exchange expected on basis solution stoichiometry a nonselective were not noticeably affected steric encumbrances. Tiopronin-MPCs which viologens coupled (avg 36/MPC) adsorb as monolayers Au electrodes shown in electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance experiments. Multilayer adsorption occurs long experimental time scales. The strong viologen-functionalized clusters is ascribed increased interaction stability viologen reduction products. Capi...
