ABSTRACT
To investigate the levels of neuron-specific enolase (NSE) in serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) patients with early stage Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD).The NSE CSF were examined 6 cases CJD patients. The measured 8 age matched control other neurological diseases also another diseases. groups consisted 1 same patient 7 different 2 both for CSF.The level (17.3 +/- 7.0 ng/ml, mean SD) was significantly higher than that controls (6.5 1.6) (P < 0.02) as case (79.3 53.3 ng/ml) vs (9.6 2.9) 0.03).Although serum, there still is a CSF. These results suggest mechanism elevation may not be simple leakage from CSF, measurement useful diagnosis CJD.
