ABSTRACT
Background. In articles and textbooks the prevalence of uterine leiomyomas is said to be 20–25% in women over age 30. The aim this study was investigate rate leiomyoma, thickness texture endometrium, size uterus a random sample asymptomatic 25–40 years old. Methods. A old offered transvaginal ultrasonographic examination 335 (72%) accepted invitation. Results. 18 were detected, i.e. 5.4% (95% CI 3.0–7.8%). increased with age, being 3.3% 0.7–6.0%) 25–32 group 7.8% 3.6–12.0%) 33–40 group. correlated parity, height. on combined oral contraceptives smaller than natural cycles. did not correlate body mass index, cycle day or smoking habits. endometrium had most cases triple line appearance during proliferative phase until 15, whereafter it unchanged throughout secretory hyperechogenic appearance.
