ABSTRACT
Objective: The efficacy of three newly developed cognitive social skills training programmes for residential, vocational and recreational functioning (experimental groups) were compared with a traditional programme (control group) referring to abilities, psychopathology generalisation effects. Method: One hundred five patients diagnosis schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder according ICD‐10 criteria selected assigned the different treatment groups, using matching procedure. phase lasted 6 months. A follow‐up assessment was carried out after 1 year. Results: Higher global therapy effects obtained on almost all dependent variables in experimental groups. Analyses variance covariance indicated higher symptom reduction but significantly greater improvements some control group. Correlation analysis suggested associations between improvement behaviour skills. Conclusion: In view these favourable effects, might facilitate abilities their integration community.
