ABSTRACT
THE ease with which vacuum infiltrated leaf disks can take up an inorganic ion1 suggests a convenient means of examining the major metabolic factors of leaf absorption, free from the complications of cuticle and epidermis. In particular, the relationship of light, nitrogen and carbohydrate-level to salt absorption can be investigated.
