ABSTRACT
Epidemiological data provide strong evidence of dramatically increasing incidences many autoimmune diseases in the past few decades, mainly western and westernized countries. Recent studies clearly revealed that 'Western diet' increases risk at least partially via disrupting intestinal tight junctions altering construction metabolites microbiota. However, role high sucrose cola beverages (HSCBs), which are one main sources added sugar diet, is barely known. Recently, a population study showed regular consumption sugar-sweetened associated with increased seropositive rheumatoid arthritis women, provokes interest genuine effects these on pathogenesis underlying mechanisms. Here we long-term caffeine-free HSCBs aggravated experimental encephalomyelitis mice microbiota-dependent manner. Further investigation altered community structure microbiota Th17 cells. High had similar detrimental while caffeine contamination limited infiltrated pathogenic immune cells counteracted effects. These results uncovered deleterious decaffeinated aggravating mice.
