ABSTRACT
Abstract The rare earth Er 3+ and Yb codoped system is the most attractive for showcasing energy transfer upconversion. This can generate green red emissions from under infrared excitation of sensitizer . It well known that red-emitting state be populated upper green-emitting state. contribution multiphonon relaxation to this population generally considered important at low densities. Here, we demonstrate first time importance a previously proposed but neglected mechanism described as cross , followed by an back within same –Yb pair. A luminescence spectroscopy study cubic Y 2 O 3 :Er indicates more efficient than relaxation, it even make major also revealed transfers involved in take place only nearest pairs, thus, fast Our results enable better understanding upconversion processes properties system.
