ABSTRACT
Abstract Objectives : Reduced sexual quality of life is a frequently reported yet rarely studied consequence obesity. The objectives this study were to 1) examine the prevalence quality‐of‐life difficulties in obese individuals and 2) investigate association between BMI class, sex, obesity treatment—seeking status. Research Methods Procedures Subjects consisted 500 participants an intensive residential program for weight loss lifestyle modification (BMI = 41.3 kg/m 2 ), 372 patients evaluated gastric bypass surgery 47.1 3) 286 control subjects not seeking treatment 43.6 ). Participants completed Impact Weight on Quality Life‐Lite, measure weight‐related life. Responses four Sexual Life items (assessing enjoyment, desire, performance, avoidance) analyzed by BMI, group. Results Higher was associated with greater impairments Obese women more impairment than men three items. Gastric candidates controls most In general, levels or equal controls. Discussion Obesity lack enjoyment activity, avoidance encounters. impaired women, Class III obesity, surgery.
