ABSTRACT
Coupling of atoms is the basis chemistry, yielding beauty and richness molecules. We utilize semiconductor nanocrystals as artificial to form nanocrystal molecules that are structurally electronically coupled. CdSe/CdS core/shell linked dimers which then fused via constrained oriented attachment. The possible facets in such fusion takes place analyzed with atomic resolution revealing distribution crystal scenarios. Coherent coupling wavefunction hybridization manifested by a red shift band gap, agreement quantum mechanical simulations. Single nanoparticle spectroscopy unravels attributes coupled related unique combination tunneling energy transfer mechanisms. This sets stage for chemistry yield diverse selection constructed from controlled building blocks. These direct relevance numerous applications displays, sensing, biological tagging emerging technologies.
