ABSTRACT
Biofilm engineering has emerged as a controllable way to fabricate living structures with programmable functionalities. The amyloidogenic proteins comprising the biofilms can be engineered create self-assembling extracellular functionalized surfaces. In this regard, facultative amyloids, which play dual role in biofilm formation by acting adhesins their native conformation and matrix scaffolds when they polymerize into amyloid-like fibrillar structures, are interesting candidates. Here, we report use of Bap protein Staphylococcus aureus tool decorate or bacterial cell surface battery functional domains proteins. We demonstrate that localization tags change simply modulating pH medium. Using features, build for trapping covalent immobilizing molecules at based on SpyTag/SpyCatcher system. Finally, show wall several Gram-positive bacteria could through external addition recombinant Bap-amyloid domain. Overall, work shows simple modulable system functionalization Bap.
