ABSTRACT
ACE2 appears to counterbalance the vasopressor effect of angiotensin I converting enzyme (ACE) in reninangiotensin system. We hypothesized that polymorphisms could confer a high risk hypertension and have an impact on antihypertensive response ACE inhibitors. The hypothesis was tested two casecontrol studies clinical trial 3,408 untreated hypertensive patients randomized Atenolol, Hydrochlorothiazide, Captopril, or Nifedipine treatments for 4 weeks. rs2106809 T allele found 1.6-fold women (95% confidence interval (CI), 1.132.06), whereas when combined with DD genotype, 2.34-fold CI, 1.754.85) independent samples. adjusted diastolic blood pressure Captopril 3.3 mm Hg lower carriers than CC genotype (P=0.019) women. conclude confers reduced
