ABSTRACT
Spin state controlling has always been a focus of intensive studies due to its importance for novel effect exploration and information technology. Complex oxides with competitive mechanisms are suitable objects study this purpose their susceptibility external stimuli. Perovskite cobaltate La1-xSrxCoO3 is one such oxides. Combined effects lattice strains hole-doping have studied the LSCO films 0 ≤ x 0.5. It found that strain, either tensile or compressive, destabilizes ferromagnetic (FM) epitaxial films, leading nonmagnetic extensively exists in doping window embedding deep into range FM phase bulk counterparts. Density functional theory calculations reveal distinct spin transition combined distortion hole-doping, explaining unique magnetic behaviors LSCO.
