ABSTRACT
The study aims to examine whether the variation of fasting plasma glucose (FPG), represented by coefficient (CV), independently predicts all-cause mortality among Chinese type 2 diabetes patients. This retrospective cohort was designed based on a standardized electronic management system patients in Shanghai, China. 8871 were enrolled between 1 January 2007 and 31 December followed-up for until 2014. All grouped quartiles CV FPG. 1136 deceased during following-up. After adjusting other risk factors, FPG not associated with mortality. Stratified analysis mean levels (<7 mmol/L ≥7 mmol/L) observed significant modifying effect (P interact test <0.01). whose control poor, HRs (95% CI) second, third, fourth vs first being 1.23(0.94-1.61), 1.63(1.25-2.13), respectively. Our results suggest that variability may be an important predictor China, particularly those their glycemic status uncontrolled.
