ABSTRACT
The fine structure of the methylene rocking bands obtained by high resolution and cryogenic FTIR spectroscopy was utilized to characterize crystalline behavior polyethylene (PE) segments in an ethylene–acrylic acid copolymers. hydrogen bonds among carboxyl groups play a cross-linking role prevent PE from adopting stable orthorhombic form. As result, lower content form higher contents monoclinic amorphous region are found samples. Quenching treatment samples strengthens this effect. On other hand, crystallization causes strain on groups. Consequently, distorted dimers easy break at elevated temperature.
