Synthesis of a novel cone-shaped CaAl-layered double hydroxide (LDH): its potential use as a reversible oil sorbent

A novel cone-shaped superhydrophobic and oleophilic CaAl-LDH intercalated with dodecyl sulphate (DS(-)) anions was synthesized from calcium as a precursor via one-step hydrothermal method. The LDH has been successfully utilized in mopping regeneration of oil oil-water mixtures.
