ABSTRACT
Hydrogels have been applied across a wide range of biomedical applications due to their versatility, but more recently garnered interest as materials in bioelectronics the capacity tailor mechanical and biological properties. Hydrogel coatings particular used impart softness at bionic device interface, deliver therapeutics control cell interactions through presentation peptides growth factors. Additionally, use dynamic hydrogel properties has harnessed shuttles for implantation flexible electrode arrays. In all these applications, must be designed not only provide desired performance, also no unexpected impacts on surrounding tissues, such extensive swelling that can compress cells interface. Appropriate selection design systems requires an understanding physical, chemical hydrogels well structure-property relationships. This review covers rationale application bioelectronic devices with focus vivo applications.
