ABSTRACT
Droplets with predefined sizes have been controllably produced at the tip of a micro-capillary immersed in an external fluid while tracking high Q-factor whispering gallery modes (WGM). The were fitted to model give precise real-time size measurement, which was used as feedback control pressure capillary and release droplet from when it reached target size. In this way dispersion highly monodisperse droplets anywhere range 5 μm 50 produced. To fabricate solid beads, made liquid photopolymer later polymerized UV light. beads showed long term stability. diameter generated oil microbeads could be reproduced standard deviation 1.1 nm 20 nm, respectively. Overall, demonstrated method improves precision by three two orders magnitude for microdroplets microbeads, respectively, compared production methods such reported microfluidics. Encoding short words numbers has producing sizes. stored information read emitted spectrum.
