Armoring SiOx with a conformal LiF layer to boost lithium storage

A facile method for pre-preparing a LiF-coating layer is proposed. This considerably improves the electrochemical performance of an anode (SiO_x) and cathode (LiNi_0.8Co_0.1Mn_0.1O₂).
