ABSTRACT
The mechanisms underlying endothelial dysfunction in type 1 and 2 diabetes (T1DM T2DM) are unresolved. red blood cells (RBCs) with increased arginase activity induce T2DM, but the implications of RBCs role inhibition T1DM unexplored. We aimed to investigate differences function patients focus on arginase. Thirteen 26 matched for HbA1c sex were included. In vivo endothelium-dependent -independent vasodilation (EDV EIDV), assessed by venous occlusion plethysmography before after administration an inhibitor. co-incubated rat aortic segments 18h followed evaluation (EDR) relaxation (EIDR) isolated organ chambers. EDV, not EIDV, was significantly impaired T2DM compared T1DM. Arginase resulted improved EDV only T2DM. from induced EDR EIDR whereas did affect nor EIDR. This study demonstrates markedly comparison addition, it highlights divergent roles mediating While is mediated via these phenomena prominent thereby indicating distinct mechanisms.
