ABSTRACT
To determine the level of psychopathology, traumatic distress and quality life in men with newly diagnosed clinically localized prostate cancer, effect on these a consultation combined-specialist early-prostate clinic, predictors psychopathology.Eighty-eight patients were recruited from combined clinic; they completed battery questionnaires including Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale (HADS), revised Impact Event (IES) European Organization for Research Treatment Cancer Quality Life Questionnaire, before their first appointment. Two weeks later HADS, IES patient-satisfaction survey.The overall psychopathology varied among used, 0% HADS depression scale, 8% anxiety scale 14% IES. stress symptoms commoner than depressive symptoms. The quality-of-life scores showed relatively good functioning. Pre-morbid factors disease status did not predict psychological distress. Younger age was mildly predictive poorer reduced slightly after joint clinic appointment, whereas slight increase.This study suggests that early cancer have low levels overall. However, some experience distressing it is important future research conducted to help develop clear guidelines optimal methods detecting managing who mental health difficulties.
