ABSTRACT
Background The Challenging Behaviour Interview (CBI) was developed as an assessment of the severity challenging behaviour. CBI is divided into two parts. Part I interview identifies occurrence five clearly operationalized forms behaviour that have occurred in last month. II assesses behaviours identified on 14 scales measuring frequency and duration episodes, effects individual others management strategies used by carers. In this paper we report upon its psychometric properties discuss potential clinical research uses new scale. Methods administered to 40 adults 47 children. Test–retest inter‐rater agreement assessed for 22 participants adult sample. Concurrent validity correlating total scores child sample with subscale Aberrant Behavior Checklist (ABC). Content comparing each specific items relating relevant aspects impact would be expected differ based topographies Results Mean test–retest reliability kappa indices were 0.67 (range: 0.50–0.80) 0.86 0.70–0.91), respectively. Pearson‘s correlation 0.48 0.02–0.77) 0.76 0.66–0.85), Correlations ABC varied between 0.19 0.68. majority content comparisons line prediction. Conclusions assessment, outcome measure services interventions purposes, discussed.
