ABSTRACT
Tapered impedance loading is studied to suppress edge scattering from a rectangular metallic plate. Associated with the pattern multiplication theorem, simple approach this problem proposed assuming current distribution of target broken into an array overlapping triangles. This tapered realised by geometric variations based on frequency-selective surfaces concepts. Electromagnetic back-scattering as-prepared plate analysed for both horizontal polarisation and vertical polarisation, compared that one same shape but loaded constant or no edge. It found advances wide angular radar cross section reduction further than other designs, works change azimuth incidence wave, solving met popular trailing-edge serration method.
