ABSTRACT
Abstract The diffraction by a finite parallel‐plate waveguide cavity with perfect electric conductor loading is rigorously analysed for the E‐polarised case using Wiener–Hopf technique. By taking Fourier transform to unknown scattered field and applying boundary conditions in transformed domain, problem formulated terms of simultaneous equations. These equations are solved factorisation decomposition procedure. solution exact but formal because it involves branch‐cut integrals integrands an infinite number unknowns. Approximation procedures based on rigorous asymptotic also presented, leading approximate inside outside evaluated inverse saddle point method integration. Numerical computations radar cross‐section have been performed different physical parameters, providing detailed analysis scattering characteristics.
