ABSTRACT
Three alkaloids, lycorine, homolycorine and 2-O-acetyllycorine, were isolated from the bulbs of Leucojum vernum (Amaryllidaceae) identified by means NMR analysis. The alkaloids obtained L. other Amaryllidaceae species studied in vitro for HIV-1 replication inhibitory activity on MT4 cells. cytotoxicity compounds uninfected cells was evaluated using MTT assay [3 H]thymidine incorporation test. antiviral activities determined p24 antigen solid-phase reverse transcriptase testing. results demonstrate that trisphaeridine, homolycorine, haemanthamine possess high antiretroviral (IC50 = 0.4 - 7.3 μg/mL), accompanied low therapeutic indices (TI50 1.3 1.9).
