ABSTRACT
Patency or thrombosis of the false lumen in type B acute aortic dissection has been found to predict outcomes. The prognostic implications partial have not yet elucidated. We examined 201 patients with who were enrolled International Registry Acute Aortic Dissection between 1996 and 2003 survived hospital discharge. Kaplan-Meier mortality curves stratified according status (patent, thrombosis, complete thrombosis) as determined during index hospitalization. Cox proportional-hazards analysis was performed identify independent predictors death.During hospitalization, 114 (56.7%) had a patent lumen, 68 (33.8%) 19 (9.5%) lumen. mean (+/-SD) 3-year rate for 13.7+/-7.1%, those 31.6+/-12.4%, 22.6+/-22.6% (median follow-up, 2.8 years; P=0.003 by log-rank test). Independent postdischarge (relative risk, 2.69; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.45 4.98; P=0.002), history aneurysm 2.05; CI, 1.07 3.93; P=0.03), atherosclerosis 1.87; 1.01 3.47; P=0.05).Mortality is high after discharge from among dissection. Partial compared patency, significant predictor these patients.
