ABSTRACT
Abstract ChatGPT-3.5, an AI language model capable of text generation, translation, summarization, and question-answering, has recently been released for public use. Studies have shown it can generate abstracts, research papers, dissertations, create quality essays on different topics. This led to ethical issues in using ChatGPT academic writing, authorship, evaluating students’ essays. However, is still unknown how performs environments as a writing assistant tool if enhances essay-writing performance. In the present study, we examined performances with or without assistance tool. The average essay grade was C both control (traditional essay-writing, n = 9) experimental (ChatGPT-assisted groups. None predictors affected scores: group, duration, study module, GPA. unauthenticity slightly higher but similarity among generally low overall sample. classifier recognized more potential AI-generated texts. Our results demonstrate that group did not perform better either indicators; students deliver content, write faster, nor had degree authentic text. We anticipate these relieve some concerns about this tool’s usage writing.
