ABSTRACT
It is well known that electron cyclotron current drive (ECCD) around the o-point of magnetic island along plasma direction can stabilize neoclassical tearing modes (NTMs) in tokamak devices. The effects radial misalignment between and driven current, phase misalignment, on-duty ratio for modulated on NTM stabilization are studied numerically this paper. A small found to significantly decrease stabilizing effect. When a sufficiently large occurs ECCD, effect also reduced lot. optimal ECCD NTMs be range 60%–70%. larger than 50% could mitigate if it not too large. There no benefit from modulation threshold.
