ABSTRACT
Voltage-dependent ion channels gate open in response to changes cell membrane voltage. This form of gating permits the propagation action potentials. We present two structures voltage-dependent K + channel KvAP, complex with monoclonal Fv fragments (3.9 Å) and without antibody (8 Å). also studied KvAP disulfide cross-bridges lipid membranes. Analyzing these data context crystal structure Kv1.2 EPR on we reach following conclusions: ( i ) is similar a very modest difference orientation its voltage sensor; ii mAb are not source non-native conformations structures; iii because contains separate loosely adherent domains, required maintain their correct relative orientations, iv model consistent proposal sensing through movement an arginine-containing helix-turn-helix element at protein-lipid interface.
