ABSTRACT
SignificanceMetagenomic pathogen sequencing offers an unbiased approach to characterizing febrile illness. In resource-scarce settings with high biodiversity, it is critical identify disease-causing pathogens in order understand burden and prioritize efforts for control. Here, metagenomic next-generation (mNGS) characterization of the landscape Cambodia revealed diverse vector-borne zoonotic irrespective age gender as risk factors. Identification key led changes national program surveillance. This study a "real world" example use mNGS surveillance individuals, executed in-country, outbreaks vector-borne, zoonotic, other emerging setting.
