ABSTRACT
A method is described for concentrating mutagens/carcinogens from human urine about 200-fold subsequent assay in the Salmonella/mammalian microsome mutagenicity test. The also applicable other aqueous liquids and vitro tests mutagens/carcinogens. (up to 500 ml) put through a column with 1.5-cm3 bed volume of XAD-2 (styrene-divinylbenzene polymer) adsorbed material then eluted few milliliters acetone. acetone taken dryness residue dissolved dimethyl sulfoxide. This concentrate that assayed mutagenicity. Various have been added recoveries measured after adsorption on XAD-2, XAD-4, Tenax GC (diphenyl-p-phenylene oxide polymer). We propose this be used monitoring populations experimental animals toxicological studies. It shown procedure cigarette smokers mutagenic while nonsmokers do not.
