ABSTRACT
Male DBA/2J and C57BL/6J mice were treated with ethylnitrosourea (EtNU) at a dose of 250 mg/kg body weight. After sterile period 11 weeks, the animals mated untreated females; DBA C57 DBA. A small control group males was established, larger from earlier experiments also used for comparison. Tissue samples removed surgically parents F1 offspring examined by electrophoresis. Nine newly arisen mutants attributable to induction EtNU found in 22,512 loci tested mutation. No mutations encountered 290,252 locus tests. preliminary study conducted concomitantly electrophoretic analyses dominant lethal effects physical malformation showed no increase over background due treatment spermatogonia, which suggests that induced tend not be expressed this way. The nature identified electrophoresis facilitates follow-up leading increased understanding molecular basis physiological mammalian organisms.
