ABSTRACT
Zeatin is the most active and ubiquitous of naturally occurring cytokinins. The O -glucoside zeatin, found in all plants examined, considered to be important cytokinin transport, storage, protection against oxidases. enzyme UDPglucose:zeatin -glucosyltransferase (EC 2.4.1.203 ) was previously isolated from Phaseolus lunatus seeds. Immunoscreening an expression library with monospecific antibody resulted isolation a cDNA encoding enzyme. recombinant protein efficiently converts labeled zeatin -glucosylzeatin has properties similar native 1.5 kb contains ORF 51.4-kDa polypeptide 459 amino acids. sequence unique based on blast search data bases. genomic sequence, PCR using specific primers does not contain introns. cloning this gene provides tools for further study regulation metabolism analysis precise role plant development.
