ABSTRACT
We isolated the cDNA encoding a novel member of human fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family from lung. The encodes protein 208 amino acids with high sequence homology (95.6%) to rat FGF-10, indicating that is FGF-10. Human FGF-10 as well has hydrophobic terminus ( approximately 40 acids), which may serve signal sequence. apparent evolutionary relationships FGFs indicate closest FGF-7. Chromosomal localization gene was examined by in situ hybridization. found map 5p12-p13 region. (amino methionine residue at terminus) produced Escherichia coli and purified cell lysate. Recombinant (approximately 19 kDa) showed mitogenic activity for fetal keratinizing epidermal cells, but essentially no NIH/3T3 fibroblasts. specificity similar FGF-7 distinct bFGF.
