ABSTRACT
A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted on 435 adults with TBI who received occupational therapy services in an acute care trauma center hospital. Outcome measures were (1) utilization based billed minutes of evaluation and treatment (low vs. high); (2) Activity Measure for Post-Acute Care (AM-PAC) "6-Clicks" to assess activities daily living level assistance; (3) Discharge disposition (community institution). Community discharge included home supported facilities. Institutional involved long term care, rehabilitation facility, short hospital, skilled nursing facility. Results indicated that change ADL performance, between admission discharge, partially mediated the relationship community (OR= 0.80, p = .003). High (vs. low) associated greater performance (β 0.39, < .001). Greater lower odds 0.96, <.001). Independent higher significantly (OR 0.57, 0.023). In conclusion, patients more less likely be discharged, as by performance. This result can provide direction future research exploring disposition.
