ABSTRACT
Background Orofacial clefts are the most common congenital malformation, but global burden and trends of orofacial have not been comprehensively analysed. The aim this study was to assess incidence, deaths disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) by countries, regions, sex sociodemographic index (SDI) from 1990 2019.Methods data on were obtained Global Burden Disease Study 2019. DALYs analysed SDI. Age-standardized rates estimated annual percentage change (EAPC) calculated evaluate temporal trend clefts. association between EAPC human development assessed.Results Globally, decreased high SDI region showed biggest downward in incidence rate 2019, along with lowest age-standardized death DALY rate. Some such as Suriname Zimbabwe, experienced increased over time. negatively associated level socioeconomic development.Conclusion achievement is evident control future focus prevention should be low-income South Asia Africa, increasing healthcare resources improving quality.KEY MESSAGESThis recent estimate epidemiology clefts, some countries previously assessed.The 2019; however, still suffering burdens.Effective measures taken reduce uncontrolled regions.
