ABSTRACT
Impaired platelet production is a mechanism of immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). Morphological abnormalities megakaryocytes (MKs) are sometimes observed in this disease. Two studies have suggested an association between MK and response to corticosteroids primary ITP, but none investigated for thrombopoietin-receptor agonists (TPO-RAs). This was the aim study. The source population French CARMEN registry with prospective follow-up adult patients incident ITP. We included treated by TPO-RA bone marrow smear before initiating TPO-RA. were categorized presence dysplasia stage maturation. Among 451 screened, 38 analysis. There no difference median percentage dysplastic MKs responders (4.0%, 95% confidence interval - CI: 2.3-6.4) non-responders (4.5%, 0.7-7.1). slightly higher proportion granular 3-6) basophilic (30.1%, 21.9-39.1) compared (granular: 2.0%, 0-4.1; basophilic: 21.3%, 11.4-40.7). In conclusion, not associated achievement ITP series patients.
