Enhancing the effect of psychotherapy through systematic client feedback in outpatient mental healthcare: A cluster randomized trial.

ABSTRACT
Objective: Systematic client feedback (SCF), the regular monitoring and informing of patients' progress during therapy to patient therapist, has been found have effects on treatment outcomes varying from very positive slightly negative. Several prior studies biased by researcher allegiance or lack an independent outcome measure. The current study taken this into account aims clarify SCF in outpatient psychological treatment.Method: Outpatients (n = 1733) four centers offering brief treatments were cluster randomized either as usual (TAU) TAU with based Partners for Change Outcome Management System (PCOMS). Primary measure was Questionnaire (OQ-45). Effects two conditions outcome, satisfaction, dropout rate, costs, duration assessed using a three-level multilevel analysis. DSM-classification, sex, age each included covariates.Results: In both analyses, significantly improved particularly first three months. No significant other variables.Conclusions: Addition systematic usual, is likely beneficial impact treatment.
