ABSTRACT
AbstractThe energy absorption characteristics of composites are developed for applications likely to be subjected sudden or prolonged impacts. In lightweight applications, the possibilities Al 6061 being explored with various known materials similar properties. Three low densities but high strength was combined: hexagonal honeycomb core sandwiched polyurethane foam and embedded within two glass fiber-reinforced polymer plates. L-9 orthogonal array Taguchi DOE adopted design experiment varying mixture, height, face sheet thickness using three-factor method. From output DOE, twenty-seven samples were fabricated. order determine force-displacement relationship each test samples, a three-point bending performed on universal testing machine.
