ABSTRACT
Objective: The primary aim of this study was to describe high support accommodation services available for patients with chronic mental illness living in New South Wales (NSW). second ask these facilities about their needs and satisfaction assess level functioning. Method: Non-inpatient matching NSW Health's definition support, very residential rehabilitation were sent a survey regarding type service, criteria acceptance, choice housing options, patient demographics, evaluation methods staff details. Camberwell Assessment Need used the Life Skills Profile–16 Comparisons made between operated by Health non-government organizations (NGOs), rural urban providing 24-hour those less intensive staffing. Results: Forty 42 identified included (95% response rate) which 25 NGOs. There 753 beds 1132 lived over financial year 2001/2002. Interviews completed at locations across state 159 patients. Seventy-four percent male mean age 43 years. Patients had on average 7.6 2.2 unmet LSP-16 total score 16.8. Almost half responded that they homeless one time because could not find appropriate housing. Conclusions: no significant differences number expressed residing government or services, areas compared intensively staffed services. Existing are doing good job meeting patients' practical assistance, but social psychological remain proportion.
