ABSTRACT
Abstract The present study aims to put forward the role of surface functionalization multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) on enhancement thermal and hydrophilicity properties new nanocomposite based poly(vinyl alcohol)/surface functionalized MWCNTs (PVA/MWCNTs), prepared by a facile phase inversion process. In this study, fabrication PVA/MWCNTs nanocomposites is carried out using (f-MWCNTs) with different functional groups (–OH, –COOH, –NH 2 ). structural, morphological, thermal, physico-chemical are characterized XRD, FE-SEM, FT-IR, TGA contact angle measurement. FT-IR results confirm formation hydrogen bond between PVA chain. XRD analysis indicates an improvement in crystallinity nanocomposite. reveal that PVA/f-MWCNTs show higher stability than pure PVA. It revealed remarkably increase degradation temperature, thus enhancing properties. highest weight loss (30.7 wt%) temperature (520 °C) values obtained PVA/f-MWCNTs(0.5 wt%). measurement confirms hydrophobic became hydrophilic because MWCNTs. increased wt% embedded
