ABSTRACT
In Brazil, an increasing proportion of new HIV infections and AIDS cases involve women reproductive age. To describe the desire with HIV/AIDS to identify factors associated for motherhood, a cross-sectional study was carried out in referral hospital infectious diseases Ceará State, northeast Brazil. total, 229 were included data analysis. Median age 32 years (interquartile range, 26–37), 63% had monthly family income less than 210 USD. Forty-nine percent using contraceptive method, 37% wished undergo tubal ligation. Sixty-four latter motivated by fear having HIV-positive child. Forty participants wanted have multivariate regression analysis, variables independently women's child were: younger (in years, odds ration [OR] = 0.94; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.90–0.98), number children (OR 0.73; CI: 0.57–0.96), partner's 3.35; 95%CI: 1.75–6.39). Having partner who did not know about woman's positive serostatus negatively 0.17; 0.04–0.69). No variable related clinical status significantly outcome variable.
