ABSTRACT
Water content measurement of municipal solid waste (MSW) is critical to water balance analysis landfill, leachate collection and recirculation, acceleration MSW degradation. Time domain reflectometry (TDR) commonly applied soils for the content. Application TDR methods moisture in difficult, because a heterogeneous highly conductive material. This study investigated application surface reflection method determination apparent dielectric constant MSW. A series experiments were conducted properties its main components such as paper, plastic, organics. Results indicate that effect material type seems be negligible on technique can effectively measure intrinsic organics absence significant bound effects. by gave similar accuracy conventional travel time materials with low electrical conductivities. In addition, provides higher high conductivities than analysis. research experimental basis use landfills.
