ABSTRACT
Objective: To report the outcomes of percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) in horseshoe kidneys (HSK) 12 institutions worldwide and evaluate impact patient position during operation. Methods: We carried out a retrospective analysis PCNL procedures performed between 2008 2018 patients with HSK. Pre-, peri-, postoperative data were collected, subgroup was according to position. Success defined as an absence >4-mm fragments. Values p < 0.05 considered significant. Results: analyzed 106 procedures. The transfusion, complication, immediate success rates (ISRs) 3.8%, 17.5%, 54.7%, respectively. final rate (FSR) increased 72.4% after mean 0.24 secondary Logistic regression showed that higher body mass index (BMI) stone size significantly associated residual fragments ≥4 mm. Sixty-seven (63.2%) treated prone 39 (36.8%) supine group had BMI than (30.1 vs 27.7, = 0.024). ISRs groups 4.5% 2.6% (p 0.99), 16.9% 18.4% 52.5% 69.2% 0.151), Surgical time longer (126.5 100 minutes, 0.04). Upper pole preferred access 80.3% 43.6% 0.001). more Clavien 2 complications 0.013). FSR 66.1% 82.1% 0.26 0.21 procedures, No 3 occurred. Conclusion: HSK is safe effective low complication rate. Higher negatively impacted outcomes. Supine may be option for treating kidney stones
