ABSTRACT
This study aimed to determine the incidence and molecular mechanisms of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae in patients from Sétif University Hospital, Algeria. Nonduplicate clinical bacterial isolates recovered attending Hospital were collected between April October 2018. Species identification was performed by MALDI-TOF/MS (matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time flight mass spectrometry) method. The susceptibility carbapenems determined using disc diffusion carbapenem resistant screened for presence common carbapenemase genes (blaKPC, blaOXA-48, blaVIM, blaIMP, blaNDM) extended-spectrum β-lactamase (blaCTX, blaTEM, blaSHV) PCR sequencing technique. A total 123 nonrepetitive obtained. Klebsiella pneumoniae (n = 52/42.28%), Escherichia coli 24/19.51%), Enterobacter cloacae 19/15.45%) most prevalent species. Carba-NP test showed that 6 out carried enzymes. OXA-48 found five (four K. one E. coli) NDM-5 isolate. We reported first time Algeria enzyme a
