ABSTRACT
Aging is accompanied by a progressive decline of muscle mass and strength also higher levels circulating cytokines such as growth differentiation factor 15 (GDF15). Studies evaluating the association GDF15 with are rare. In this analysis, we investigated concentrations their relationship in older men compared women. serum were measured 103 (60 years older) hospital patients an age-matched control group immunosorbent assay. Skeletal was determined bioelectrical impedance analysis. Grip knee extension assessed normalized for height. Associations between evaluated general linear models. Male showed female (p = 0.021). Elevated associated lower measures mass, exclusively men, after adjustment age number drugs per day. Our results indicate sex differences associations parameters cohort patients.
