Abstract Background In Ireland, over 53,000 older adults are supported in their community by formal home support, amounting to an estimated 19 million care hours annually. There is a growing need move beyond care, more proactive approaches maintain physical function. feasibility study, we delivered the ‘Care Move’ (CTM) programme through existing support services. The aim of present qualitative study was explore experience and perceptions Health Care Assistants (HCAs), who were trained in, CTM programme. Methods We conducted semi-structured telephone interviews with 22 HCAs involved delivery among [n = 35, mean age 82.8 (7.8) years]. Interview transcripts coded analysed thematically capture barriers facilitators delivery. Results Barriers identified under three main themes i) ii) setting, iii) clients. Overall, there positive perception programme’s focus on ‘movement prompts motivators’, ‘fit’ within services, training provided. Practical challenges limited time task-orientation nature reported as recurring for CTM. Many commented value perceived benefits Though negative adult’s motivation or ability engage activity also emerged. Risk, such injury pain, but not dominant theme. Conclusion Our preliminary findings suggest that embedding initiatives services could be feasible. Restructuring engaging HCAs, moving traditional ‘task-oriented' models personalised may facilitate this initiative ageing place.
